Providing Free Food and Ashram in Maha Kumbh 2025

The Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world, celebrated by millions of Hindus every 12 years in India. The 2025 Maha Kumbh Mela will be held at Prayagraj (formerly known as Allahabad) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India.

About Our Culture

Hindu culture is one of the oldest and richest cultural traditions in the world, shaped by thousands of years of history, philosophy, art, and social practices. It is the cultural and religious framework that arises from the teachings of Hinduism, which is not just a religion but a way of life. Hindu culture has profoundly influenced various aspects of life, including spirituality, family structure, rituals, festivals, arts, language, and social practices.

2025 Maha Kumbh Mela

Prayagraj, located at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the Sarasvati river (also known as Triveni Sangam), is considered one of the holiest cities in our culture. The significance of Prayagraj lies in the belief that taking a dip in the confluence of these sacred rivers during the Kumbh Mela washes away one’s sins and brings spiritual merit.

The city has a rich history of being a center of learning, culture, and spirituality. It has been an important pilgrimage destination for centuries, and the Kumbh Mela is not just a religious event but also a massive gathering of spirituality, philosophy, and social discourse.

Spiritual Practices

Pilgrims visiting the Sangam Ghat often perform rituals such as puja (prayers), yajnas (fire rituals), and astrological ceremonies. Many also offer prayers for the departed souls of their ancestors, believing that the water of the Sangam helps release them from the cycle of rebirth

History and Mythology

According to Hindu mythology, the Triveni Sangam is where the gods and demons fought over the nectar of immortality (amrita) that spilled from the pot during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan). It is believed that the nectar spilled at four places—Prayagraj being one of them—and that these locations became the centers of the Kumbh Mela.

Naga sadhus are an important and fascinating part of India’s spiritual heritage, particularly in the Shaiva tradition. Their austere, disciplined lives and dedication to spiritual awakening make them revered figures, particularly during the Kumbh Mela, where they are among the first to perform sacred rituals in the holy rivers. Their lives serve as a powerful reminder of the commitment to spiritual liberation and the renunciation of materialism in the pursuit of higher knowledge and self-realization.

Symbolism and Philosophy:

  • The Naga sadhu’s lifestyle is a reflection of the yogic philosophy, where physical austerity and detachment are means to transcend the body and mind, focusing entirely on the divine.
  • The Naga sadhus symbolize the Shivaite tradition, where they devote themselves to the worship of Lord Shiva, often seeing themselves as protectors of dharma (righteousness) and spiritual knowledge.
